A Commission Decision (Decision (EU) 2023/1338) concerning the safety requirements to be met by European standards for certain children’s products and related products has just been published in the Official journal.

The current standards for childcare articles other than toys are based on a 1997 mandate that is outdated, and with this Decision the Commission intends to update these safety requirements. It would be the basis for the request to the standardisation bodies to prepare new and/or updated standards.
