Toy safety – Revision of the Directive

The European Commission has just opened a consultation on the revision of the Toy Safety Directive.

This initiative aims to protect children better against risks in toys, particularly from chemicals. It builds on work such as the chemicals strategy for sustainability, and on an evaluation of the current toy safety rules completed in 2020. At the same time, it aims to strengthen the Single Market for toys.

The purpose of this contribution, opened by the Commission, is to obtain opinions on the adopted act. All feedback received will be summarised by the European Commission and presented to the European Parliament and Council with the aim of feeding into the legislative debate.

The feedback period is open until 29 September 2023.
